Network Of practitioners For Emergency medicAl systems and cRitical care

Background

No-FEAR Project TRIWhile emergency medical care has a critical role in assisting casualties after security incidents, there are a number of challenges that the Emergency Medical System (EMS) needs to address. These challenges include:

  • A fragmented chain of actors responding to security related incidents
  • A lack of communication between practitioners and suppliers
  • New threats to respond to (e.g., terrorism, armed conflicts)
  • No common methodologies and standardized actions

Objectives

The NO-FEAR project will bring together a network of emergency medical care practitioners, suppliers, decision and policy makers to collaborate, discuss innovation, and exchange knowledge, good practices, and lessons learned. The main objectives of the NO-FEAR project are to:

  • Overcome the fragmentation in the Emergency Medical System,
  • Facilitate cooperation between practitioners, academia, and industry,
  • Build a common vision on needs, gaps and innovations by creating and operating a network of stakeholders, and
  • Identify standardisation priorities.

Our Role

Within NO-FEAR, Trilateral Research leads the task on Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication. This involves developing and implementing the project’s dissemination, exploitation, and communication strategy to raise awareness and maximise the impact of the project.

Trilateral also contributes to the foresight exercise which will provide elements of foresight in terms of new threats, trends, and needs.

Outputs

The key components of the NO-FEAR project include:

  • The two NO-FEAR networks that will interact; 1) practitioners, decision and policy makers network, and 2) Suppliers and academia network
  • The NO-FEAR platform featuring a dynamic catalogue of highly relevant products, services, prototypes, projects and innovations.
  • Networking events every six months including workshops, demonstrations, and exercises

Impact

NO-FEAR will:

  • develop a common understanding of innovation potential, more widely accepted understanding, expression of common innovation and standardization needs among practitioners, which will improve knowledge sharing and understanding between practitioners;
  • result in a more articulated and coordinated uptake of innovative solutions among agencies and other mainly public operators in different countries;
  • result in a better articulated and complementary uptake of innovations by practitioners from different disciplines who often work together in a major crisis;
  • create synergies with existing European, national and sub-national networks of practitioners.
