Detecting and analysing terrorist-related online contents and financing activities 


DANTE – (Detecting and analysing terrorist-related online contents and financing activities) is a 30 month project that runs from 1 September 2016 till 28 February 2019. The Dante project will follow a multi-disciplinary approach ranging from criminology and counter-terrorism to social, legal and ethical foci, incorporating on the ground law enforcement agencies in a bid to improve intelligence processes in countering terrorism. The project aims to deliver more effective, efficient, automated data mining and analytics solutions and an integrated system to detect, retrieve, collect and analyse huge amount of heterogeneous and complex multimedia and multi-language terrorist-related contents from both the Surface and the Deep Web, including Dark nets, in order to discover (by “connecting the dots”), detect, analyse, and monitor potential terrorist-related activities and people, with a special focus on online fund raising activities. Trilateral’s role in the project is to use its expertise to support the consortium in the ethical components of the project, as well as to support partners in running an ethical and privacy impact assessment (WP3).
