Kai Matturi is a Data Protection Advisor at Trilateral Research. Kai Matturi

As part of his work for Trilateral Research, Kai provides data protection advisory services to ensure our clients’ compliance with the applicable European and national legislation.

He leads the delivery of GDPR compliance activities for public and private sector clients, including Data Protection Impact Assessments, GDPR Gap Analyses, drafting privacy messages, staff training and awareness raising, liaising with Data Protection Authorities, handling privacy complaints and enquiries from the public and advising on Data Subject Access Requests. He also provides privacy advice to Trilateral staff.

Prior to joining Trilateral, Kai was Data Protection and Knowledge Management lead with Concern Worldwide. He supported the development, implementation and coordination of various data protection and knowledge management projects for Concern Worldwide. He provided technical support to the organisation’s General Data Protection Regulation compliance project.

Kai is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He is a Certified Data Protection Officer with the Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland. He is the Ireland co-chair of the IAPP’s KnowledgeNet Chapter. The latter brings Irish privacy community members together through free educational meetings and networking activities.

Research background

Kai’s research expertise includes various areas of interaction between political economy, humanitarian action, technology and society. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, acted as a reviewer for leading journals, presented at conferences across the world and lectured at various academic institutions. He has over 10 years’ experience in applied research.

Kai holds a Master of Science in International Development from University College Dublin. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from University College Dublin. He also holds a Professional Certificate in Data Protection from University College Dublin.
