Adam Panagiotopoulos is a Data Protection Advisor and Research Analyst at Trilateral Research.
As part of his work for Trilateral Research, Adam provides data protection advisory services to ensure our clients’ compliance with the applicable European and national legislation. He participates in conducting data protection impact assessments, mapping privacy policies and mitigating privacy risks. In his research, he examines the legal and ethical aspects in data-driven products and services.
Prior to joining Trilateral, Adam was a Research Assistant in two projects at the University of Edinburgh, also examining the implications of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for health-related research in the UK. He has worked as a trainee lawyer at the Legal Council of the Hellenic State at the disposal of the Ministry of Finance. He has also gained experience working for the Legal and Compliance department of Samsung Electronics Hellas S.A., seconded by Bernitsas Law Firm.
Adam’s practice, policy and research interests include cross-sectional areas of emerging technologies, information governance models and law. His areas of expertise include the interplay between consumer and data protection and the legal, societal and ethical aspects in data protection and privacy with a focus on biotechnology and health-related products.
Adam is a qualified lawyer registered with the Athens Bar Association.
Adam has authored a book in Greek on Biobanks and Personal Data navigating the applicable Greek and European legal framework.
He holds an LLB and a Master in Civil Law awarded with distinction from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has also participated in a public-law-focused exchange programme at the University of Bordeaux.
He recently earned an LLM in Innovation, Technology and the Law from the University of Edinburgh, where he produced several papers on the legal, societal and ethical aspects of new technologies, including the Internet of Things, digital marketing, medicinal products, and devices and genomics.
Adam is fluent in English, French and Greek.
