Data Analyst – Modern Slavery and Child Exploitation


Trilateral Research is a UK and IE-based enterprise, founded in 2004. Our team collaborates across social sciences and technology development to bring insights from each into supporting data driven innovation. We provide research, advisory (e.g., policy) and technology development services to private and public-sector organisations.

We are currently recruiting for the STRIAD (Strategic and Tactical Risk Identification and Assessment for Data-driven decision-making) team. The candidate should demonstrate excellent experience in data collection, cleaning and analysis. The candidate should have broad experience with databases and programming languages, with excellent knowledge of Python in particular. Knowledge of machine learning is an asset for this post and the candidate will have opportunities to develop their data science skills in a supportive experienced team. The candidate will principally contribute to two UK government funded projects. One project aims to understand and tackle modern slavery, human trafficking, conflict and climate change driven migration in partnership with the UK Military, and the other aims to safeguard children from sexual exploitation, gang violence and the drug trade in partnership with a UK Police Force. The post-holder will be expected to liaise with project partners and clients in the private and public sector, both in the UK and internationally, and to deliver products, research, technical proposals and reports in a collaborative and supportive research-intensive environment in which short and demanding deadlines are frequent.


Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Data collection, curation, cleaning, analysis, and visualisation.
  • Contributing, with the support of an interdisciplinary team, to the development of cloud-based machine learning solutions for public and private clients.
  • Contributing to the writing of technical reports and deliverables.
  • Researching and writing content for grant proposals and tender submissions.
  • Writing content for peer-reviewed journal articles, blogs and online press.
  • Attending and/or presenting at national/international conferences and workshops.

Qualifications and skills:

  • MSc in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent years of experience.
  • Strong command of Python.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy.

Security Vetting Clearance

The successful candidate will be expected to undergo a pre-employment security vetting which may take 6 weeks to be completed.
