Research Analyst / Senior Research Analyst – Foresight

Trilateral Research, a London-based enterprise, specialising in research and the provision of strategic, policy and regulatory advice on new technologies, is seeking to engage one or more Research Analysts. The candidates will be expected to work on Trilateral projects in both the public and private sectors. For more information on our projects, see PROJECTS .

The candidate should have a sound understanding of the issues arising from artificial intelligence and big data analytics and should have expertise in foresight techniques, notably scenario construction and Delphis.

The post-holder will be expected to liaise with project partners and stakeholders across the EU and internationally and to deliver high quality research and project outputs in a collaborative and supportive research-intensive environment.


Responsibilities and Duties : 

  • Developing case studies and scenarios focused on smart information systems in consultation with stakeholders.
  • Organising a Delphi exercise, involving the production of a questionnaire for selected AI experts and other stakeholders and synthesising their responses over two or three rounds.
  • Exploring and developing options for regulating (or not) smart information systems.
  • Carrying out empirical research and writing of deliverables.
  • Performing research work related to current projects, writing reports and developing other deliverables as required to fulfil contractual obligations.
  • Researching and writing content for grant proposals and tender submissions.
  • Writing content for peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, as part of projects, or as an outgrowth from projects.
  • Attending and/or presenting at conferences and workshops, involving occasional travel outside the UK.

Qualifications and Skills

  • The ideal candidate will have
  • a PhD related to regulation and policy development and/or foresight techniques and/or artificial intelligence and big data analytics.
  • proven post-doctoral experience in doing case studies, scenario construction (involving stakeholders) and/or conducting Delphis.
  • strong, demonstrable writing skills and preferably will have already published papers in peer-reviewed journals.

The candidate should be based in the UK or Ireland and the EU.

The candidate should be able to start on 1 May 2018.
